We are seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer, Level II to support our Space Communications Network Services contract at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, Wallops Island VA. The ideal candidate will be an RF hardware intensive communications systems engineer. Most of the effort entails upgrade or modification of hardware for the NASA Near Earth Network satellite ground station radio frequency and network communications equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate's duties include:

  • System requirements development and allocation.
  • Performing or directing the analysis, design, fabrication, test and integration of electrical systems for ground system applications.
  • Interpreting system level requirements as they apply to the development of electrical systems and components, identifying design alternatives and performing trade-off studies, linking budget, sensitivity, reliability, failure mode and worst case analysis to determine the optimum approach for the design, and to predict performance of the system for the expected operational and environmental conditions.
  • Developing and executing test plans for electronics system verification and acceptance, and developing operations and maintenance documentation.
  • Designing or performing test sequences to measure and characterize the performance of electrical components and systems, and, subsequently, analyzing and interpreting the test results and preparing summary reports.





  • A Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, physics or mathematics is required with 5 year's experience in the analysis, design and development of electrical and electronic systems including hands-on work in the test and integration of Ground Data Systems.
  • Masters Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics may substitute for 3 years of experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
