The Near-Earth Network team is seeking a Systems Engineer, Level 1 to provide engineering support to the Wallops Orbital Tracking Station at Wallops Island, VA. This position is on NASA's Space Communications Network Services (SCNS) contract.
His/her duties may include: performs system engineering for a system or subsystems using methodologies and techniques appropriate to the engineering discipline; operations concept development; provides expert advice and support during the entire life cycle from the specification and analysis of requirements, through the design of the hardware or software, procurement, fabrication, assembly, to integration and test to verify that system requirements have been realized; support of the mission or system; interface control; identifies and solves technical problems during all phases; develops technical reports and documentation. If functioning as a lead engineer, provide technical direction for the definition and development of a system or subsystem and coordinate all appropriate engineering activities.
A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or mathematics is required. A minimum of 8 years experience in the analysis, design and development of ground data systems is required. Prior experience in coordinating and directing the work of peers is required. (A Master’s degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or mathematics may substitute for 3 years of experience).
