Performs logistic support services by performing a variety of assignments, related to the procurement, receipt, shipment, and disposition of hazardous materials. Manages databases and reporting systems relative to hazardous materials.
Duties & Responsibilities
Performs material management duties specific to the NASA Hazardous Material Management System (HMMS).
Supports Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) data base efforts.
Uses NASA Advanced Materials Management System (AMMS) and other data systems as required to process requests for hazardous material; provide cataloging, barcoding, labeling and other inventory functions.
Coordinates pickup, delivery and transportation of hazardous material.
Performs QC checks and physical inventories in the field to ensure fidelity of management systems and processes and maintain integrity of databases.
Provides information searches for varying customers.
Ensures that hazardous material management processes and systems are in compliance with NASA, federal and state regulations and laws.
Supports all internal and external audits.
Processes all incoming and “found on Station” hazardous materials.
Applies fundamental logistics engineering concepts, practices, and procedures; performs government property administration and accounting duties requiring experience and knowledge in government property administration practices. Works within the general framework of established work instructions and procedures
Bachelors Degree in a related technical field with 4 years experience in logistics functions.
Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience.
In lieu of formal education, a minimum of 12 years of related experience.
Other Knowledge Skills & Abilities
• Computer skills and experience in data systems and database management are required.
