Performs logistic support services by performing a variety of assignments, related to the procurement, receipt, shipment, and disposition of hazardous materials.  Manages databases and reporting systems relative to hazardous materials.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs material management duties specific to the NASA Hazardous Material Management System (HMMS).
  • Supports Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) data base efforts.
  • Uses NASA Advanced Materials Management System (AMMS) and other data systems as required to process requests for hazardous material; provide cataloging, barcoding, labeling and other inventory functions.
  • Coordinates pickup, delivery and transportation of hazardous material.
  • Performs QC checks and physical inventories in the field to ensure fidelity of management systems and processes and maintain integrity of databases.
  • Provides information searches for varying customers.
  • Ensures that hazardous material management processes and systems are in compliance with NASA, federal and state regulations and laws.
  • Supports all internal and external audits.
  • Processes all incoming and “found on Station” hazardous materials.
  • Applies fundamental logistics engineering concepts, practices, and procedures; performs government property administration and accounting duties requiring experience and knowledge in government property administration practices. Works within the general framework of established work instructions and procedures




  • Bachelors Degree in a related technical field with 4 years experience in logistics functions.
  • Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience.
  • In lieu of formal education, a minimum of 12 years of related experience.


Other Knowledge Skills & Abilities

• Computer skills and experience in data systems and database management are required.
