Overview

Supports network activities associated with the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility with special support given to the Management Education Center (MEC).

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operates video teleconferencing equipment and provides IT support for staff, instructors, and participants of the MEC.
    • Perform support activities associated with the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of WICC IT systems.
    • System Administrator for Code 200 IT assets and Servers; including HVAC, Web, Database, GIS, Print, File Share and Test servers.
    • Specialization areas of networks and telecommunications, LAN/WAN administration, cybersecurity, intra-computer communications, network design and support, network and system management/administration.
    • Manage NAMS workflow for access to WICC servers.
    • Address complex cybersecurity issues for IT systems.
    • Diagnose and repair computer hardware by replacing Hard Drive, Ram, CPU, NIC card, Logic Board, Internal Display, Video Card, Keyboard, etc.
    • Manage FIRENet HVAC and power monitoring computers and Severs for NASA and the NAVY.
    • Manually update and patch FIRENet computers with an offline Windows Updater and Symantec Definitions.
    • Prepare and review specifications of IT-related purchases to ensure they contain full consideration of cybersecurity-related needs, especially in regard to the Goddard Code 200 IT Security Plan for Wallops Code 200 assets.

                        May be required to obtain NASA’s System Administration certificate

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics or a related technical field is required with a minimum of 2 years related experience including experience in coordinating and directing the work of peers.
  • Associates Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • In lieu of a formal education, a minimum of 8 years experience may be substituted.
  • Excellent customer service skills are a must
