We are seeking a qualified Software Engineer, Level II to support our Space Communications Network Services contract at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, Wallops Island VA.  The ideal candidate will be a communications hardware intensive computer programmer.  Most of the effort entails the development or modification (software maintenance) of monitoring and control software for the NASA Near Earth Network satellite ground station radio frequency and network communications equipment.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    His/her duties may include:

    • Develops code in accordance with applicable requirements documentation
    • Develops and executes test plans for software system verification and acceptance, and develops required documentation
    • Systems requirements development and allocation
    • Manages software specifications, analyses software systems, codes of software modules, supports the integration of hardware and software systems, and generation of related documentation.


    •  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, mathematics or a related technical field is required and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the analysis, design and development of software systems including hands-on work in the test and integration of Ground Data Systems.
    • The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of most of the following:

      • Windows (7, 2008 server, Embedded, 10)

      • Equipment Control Interfaces (ICDs, API, Library Interface
      • IT Security and System Administration
      • Installation and testing of applications
